How to download youtube videos in Debian ,Ubuntu and Linux Mint

So many of the new windows user who migrate to linux complain about trouble downloading videos from youtube. So friends i give you the most simple solutions ever and after this you will love your linux much more.

A.LOOK IN THE TEMP FOLDER

Follow the following step :

  • Go to where your video which you want to download is
  • let the video buffer its full length
  • Minimize your browser [DONT CLOSE IT -----NO NO !!!]
  • Go to DESKTOP>COMPUTER>FILE SYSTEM>TEMP
  • WHAM BAM  you will find your video here ..copy paste it to your desktop ....rename it now you can watch the video again and again ........
  • You can close your browser if you want !  :-)
 NOTE :-
    1. i did this on ubuntu 10.10 , mint 9 and debian 6.0 with firefox morzilla........i have not tried this any other browser or distro .I will let you know i there is any other way to do this !!!

    2. This can be done for video in any website ....youtube was just an example !

     B.YOUTUB-DL
There is a software thats available in your package manager ,its named youtube-dl.youtube-dl is a small command-line program to download videos from YouTube.com and other sites that don't provide direct links to the videos served.
Youtube-dl allows the user, among other things, to choose a specific video quality to download (if available) or let the program automatically determine the best quality video to grab. It supports downloading entire playlists and all videos from a given user.Currently supported sites are video.google.com, youtube, photobucket, and metacafe. You can get youtube-dl from your package manager.

    C.THE KISS WAY ;-)

    • Go to where your video is - for example it is at "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0z_liq2su2w"
    • Now you add the word kiss before youtube in the link ---"http://www.kissyoutube.com/watch?v=0z_liq2su2w".
    • Hit enter and it will redirect to aveyoutube pages from where you can save youtube video easily ,it also allows you to save them in the format that you     want ,like .flv,mp4 and also give resolution choice .
    • If it's your first-time, a warning box may pop-up - just select "Run" to continue. This is perfectly safe and will not install software.

    • A list of download links will appear. Right-click on the format you want and select "Save As..." to start your download. That's all!

    NOTE:-
You can still use firefox extensions and softwares like youtube-dl to download video, this is a method where you dont require any software installed. I recommend users to go for this.. have any comment??? Do drop it down..
